The Princess, daughter of Cassiopeia. The Andromeda Galaxy M31 is the farthest object visible to the naked eye at 2.5 million light-years. Andromeda and the Milky Way are on a collision course and will merge in about 4 billion years. Alpheratz connects Andromeda to Pegasus. The constellation chain of stars leads from Andromeda to her rescuer Perseus. Named after the mythological Ethiopian princess.
