Camelopardalis
About Camelopardalis
The Giraffe. Introduced by Petrus Plancius in the early 1600s to fill a large, faint area near the north celestial pole. Despite its size it has no star brighter than fourth magnitude. Contains Kembles Cascade, a chain of faint stars named after the Canadian amateur astronomer Lucian Kemble, and the open cluster NGC 1502. The Camelopardalids meteor shower is linked to comet 209P/LINEAR.
