Cepheus
About Cepheus
The King, husband of Cassiopeia and father of Andromeda in Greek myth. One of Ptolemys 48 constellations and circumpolar for many northern observers. Delta Cephei is the prototype of Cepheid variables, pulsating stars used to measure cosmic distances. Its variability was discovered by John Goodricke in 1784. Mu Cephei, Herschels Garnet Star, is one of the largest red supergiants visible to the naked eye.
