Cetus
About Cetus
The Whale or sea monster. The fourth largest constellation. In Greek myth it was the monster sent to devour Andromeda before Perseus rescued her. Mira, the wonderful star, was the first known variable star apart from novae, noted by David Fabricius in 1596. It brightens and fades over about 11 months. Tau Ceti is a nearby Sun-like star about 12 light-years away. The galaxy M77 is a well-known Seyfert galaxy.
