Lynx
About Lynx
The Lynx. Introduced by Johannes Hevelius in the late 1600s. He named it Lynx because its stars are so faint that one would need the sharp eyes of a lynx to see them. A long chain of dim stars between Ursa Major and Auriga. Its brightest star Alpha Lyncis is a red giant. Contains NGC 2419, a remote globular cluster nicknamed the Intergalactic Wanderer for its great distance from the Milky Way.
