About Monoceros
The Unicorn. Introduced by Petrus Plancius in the early 1600s, lying within the Winter Triangle of Betelgeuse, Sirius, and Procyon. Faint to the naked eye but rich in deep-sky objects. Contains the Rosette Nebula, the Cone Nebula, the Christmas Tree Cluster, and Hubbles Variable Nebula. V838 Monocerotis brightened suddenly in 2002, producing a spectacular light echo imaged by Hubble.
