About Belt of Orion
Three perfectly aligned second magnitude stars, Alnitak, Alnilam, and Mintaka, form the most famous line in the sky. Extending the line southeast leads to Sirius and northwest to Aldebaran. Hanging from the belt is the sword, home of the Orion Nebula. All three are distant supergiants belonging to the Orion OB1 association, born together from the same great cloud.
