About Quadrans Muralis

The mural quadrant, created by Johannes Hevelius in 1687 between Bootes, Draco, and Hercules. When the IAU fixed the 88 modern constellations in 1922 and drew the final boundaries in 1930, Quadrans Muralis was dropped and its stars absorbed by Bootes. Its name lives on in the Quadrantid meteor shower, whose radiant still lies where the quadrant once stood, peaking around January 3 each year.
