About Capricornus

The Sea Goat. The smallest zodiac constellation. Despite its faintness, one of the oldest recognized constellations, dating back to the Babylonians. Deneb Algedi is the brightest star, a multiple star system. The constellation represents a mythical creature that was half goat and half fish. The Tropic of Capricorn is named after the constellation because the Sun appeared there at the December solstice about 2,000 years ago.
