Chamaeleon
About Chamaeleon
The Chameleon. Created by Petrus Plancius from observations made by Keyser and de Houtman in the 1590s. A small, faint constellation near the south celestial pole. Its main stars form a small diamond shape. The Chamaeleon dark clouds are one of the closest star-forming regions to the Sun and are studied for young stars and brown dwarfs. Never visible from most of the Northern Hemisphere.
