About Circinus

The Compass, the drawing tool rather than the navigational instrument. Introduced by Lacaille in the 1750s. The fourth smallest constellation in the sky. Lies next to Alpha and Beta Centauri in the Milky Way. The Circinus Galaxy, an active Seyfert galaxy, is one of the nearest of its kind but is partly hidden behind the dust of the Milky Way. Alpha Circini is a rapidly oscillating peculiar star.
