Corona Australis
About Corona Australis
The Southern Crown. One of Ptolemys 48 constellations, a small arc of stars below Sagittarius. Its curved shape resembles a wreath or crown, and it has been seen that way since ancient times. The Corona Australis molecular cloud is one of the nearest active star-forming regions to the Sun. Contains the reflection nebula NGC 6726 and the variable star R Coronae Australis embedded in dark dust.
