Hydrus
About Hydrus
The Lesser Water Snake, not to be confused with the much larger Hydra. Created by Plancius from Keyser and de Houtman observations. Lies near the south celestial pole between the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds. Beta Hydri is one of the nearest subgiant stars, a slightly older and larger version of the Sun about 24 light-years away. Its three brightest stars form a long triangle.
