Lepus
About Lepus
The Hare. One of Ptolemys 48 constellations, crouching beneath the feet of Orion. In myth the hare is hunted by Orion and his dogs. Contains Hinds Crimson Star R Leporis, one of the reddest stars in the sky, named after the English astronomer John Russell Hind. The globular cluster M79 is unusual for lying in the winter sky, away from the galactic center where most globulars are found.
