About Lupus
The Wolf. One of Ptolemys 48 constellations, lying between Centaurus and Scorpius. The Greeks saw it as an unnamed wild animal speared by the centaur, and it became a wolf in later Latin translations. SN 1006, the brightest supernova in recorded history, appeared in Lupus in 1006 AD and was recorded in China, Egypt, Iraq, Japan, and Europe. Rich in bright blue-white stars.
