About Pavo

The Peacock. Alpha Pavonis is simply called Peacock. One of twelve constellations introduced by Keyser and de Houtman from southern hemisphere observations in the late 1500s. The Peacock Globular Cluster NGC 6752 is one of the closest globular clusters at 13,000 light-years. Contains the interacting galaxy pair NGC 6872, one of the largest known spiral galaxies stretching over 522,000 light-years.
