About Tucana

The Toucan. Created by Plancius from Keyser and de Houtman observations. Contains the Small Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy of the Milky Way visible to the naked eye. 47 Tucanae is the second brightest globular cluster in the sky after Omega Centauri, with hundreds of thousands of stars. Although they appear side by side, 47 Tucanae lies inside our galaxy, far closer than the Small Magellanic Cloud.
